Such a fun Dance Photography session out at the Great Saltair. It was so gusty that the use of a light was not possible, although we did try. My little light umbrella was literally ripped apart at the metal seams by the wind. So we focused on beautiful backlit images, using the wind to create movement in her hair and the fabric.
It does take about 20 minutes to walk out to the water, so if you are up to a walk in the sand/salt, it's a fun way to add a little extra something to your portraits.
It has been windy almost every time I have shot at the Great Saltair, but for me, that is a bonus. As it does create beautiful movement. I generally prefer to use an off camera flash with a small modifier to pop light on the subject in order to keep the beautiful colors of the sunset with out blowing them out.
